Project SUCCESS
Program History in Saint Paul Public Schools

A contract for services for Project SUCCESS was funded by year a three-year grant from the United States Department of Educations Cultural Partnerships for At-Risk Children and Youth Program, from 2002-2005. Saint Paul Public Schools was one of nineteen districts nationwide to receive a grant. Saint Paul Public School's project, called Achieve & Connect through Theatre, or ACT!, created a partnership with Project SUCCESS, a nonprofit organization, and two Saint Paul middle schools. Since the grant's end, Project SUCCESS has continued to work with students and has expanded to even more middle and junior highs.

Project SUCCESS works with:
  • Battle Creek Middle School
  • Hazel Park Middle School
  • Humboldt Secondary
  • Washington Technology Magnet

Mission and Purpose
Project SUCCESS is a youth-development organization that works with students over a six-year period, from middle school through high school, to help them develop life skills and inspire them to act on their dreams. Through in-school goal-setting workshops, an innovative theater program, and after-school individual services, students learn to make informed choices and plan for meaningful futures.

Program Description
Project SUCCESS is a non-profit organization that serves over 10,000 kids in both Minneapolis and Saint Paul.

Because they realize the teenage years are critical ones for a young person, their program is designed to serve young people from middle school through high school. The program is comprised of these components:

• School-based workshops
• Theater experiences
• One-on-one assistance
• Additional programming
