About SPPS Arts Education: Arts education is critical in laying the foundation for youth to experience profound creativity, enhance intellectual ability, learn skills for a lifetime, and explore exciting new worlds. Saint Paul Public School's Arts Department operates with this belief in mind and supports district and community efforts that enrich the lives of children by allowing personal expression through the arts. The Arts department provides support and assistance to district teachers, staff, administrators, schools, and sites through professional development, programming, commu- nication, and special opportunities.
Arts for All is the umbrella heading that the Arts Department has adopted. Arts for All strives for excellence and quality in teaching and learning in and through the arts; learning in and through the arts is fundamental to a complete education for all students. Students receive an essential arts education taught by arts specialists with scope and sequence or curriculum in every school. Students extend their arts learning through the work of other teachers who infuse the arts in their classrooms. Arts, cultural and community organizations, teaching artists, families, mentors, performances, exhibits, classes, and lessons all contribute to expanding student's knowledge and appreciation of the arts and capacity for creative, artistic endeavor.
