AVID Tutors

Tutor Program Overview

AVID is a national program that is new to the Saint Paul Public School District. Its mission is to assist students who are in the “academic middle” to prepare them for admission to 4 year colleges and universities.

This mission is accomplished by encourgaing students to enroll in a “rigorous” course, (e.g. Pre-AP, AP, or IB), as well as an AVID Elective course.

To support students in their learning process, tutors are provided to assist in reviewing and conceptualizing course information. Tutors are also role models for Saint Paul students to emulate in visualizing their own college aspirations.

This program is offered in 7th - 12th grade classes.
